With the acquisition of PU spray foam manufacturer Isotrie (Drongen, Belgium; www.isotrie.com), PU systems operator Plixxent (Hamburg, Germany; www.plixxent.com) has expanded its position in the European market for polyurethane foams.
Plixxent CEO Jörg Schottek said the acquisition strengthens his company’s distribution network, particularly in Belgium, Luxembourg, and France, noting that the added production in the takeover target’s home country not only expands capacity, but also increases efficiency thanks to the high degree of automation. The acquisition does not, however, include the Isotrie application units Isolatie & Constructie NV, Isoltec, and Poliso.
Plixxent, a spin-off of plastics producer Covestro (Leverkusen, Germany; www.covestro.com) currently has system houses in Oldenburg (Germany), Otterup (Denmark), Busto Arsizio (Italy), Foxhol (Netherlands), Tarragona (Spain), and Macclesfield (UK), with just under 350 employees. There is also a warehouse in Dalmine (Italy) and other sales locations in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Sweden, and the UK.
