US group buys Irish packaging manufacturer Alpack
US packaging group Berlin Packaging (Chicago, Illinois; www.berlinpackaging.com) is expanding its business in Europe. The company has now acquired its significantly smaller competitor Alpack (Dublin, Ireland; www.alpack.ie) for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 1988, the family business from Dublin manufactures plastic, glass, and cardboard packaging besides closures for the food industry. Turnover figures and the number of employees were not disclosed.

Berlin Packaging also supplies packaging made of various materials. In Europe, the US group is currently represented by branches in Italy (3), the UK (2), Spain (2), the Netherlands (1), and France (1). Further sites are located in the US (32) and Canada (2), and one each in South Africa, South Korea, and China.
