Construction of US compounding plant on schedule / Production to start earlier than planned
Finnish compounder Premix (Rajamäki; www.premixgroup.com) said it is pleased with the progress of construction work on its first US plant in Apple Creek, North Carolina – the project is on schedule and Premix now anticipates production to start in the first quarter of 2025. This is half a year earlier than originally planned. The Finnish company did not, however, provide any information on the projected production capacity, focusing only on it doubling. The amount of the investment was also not disclosed.

The new plant is to produce electrically conductive compounds, for instance for the packaging industry in the E&E sector. The plant also provides storage space for compounds produced in Finland. In spring 2022, the US government awarded a major USD 80 mn contract to produce compounds fit for healthcare applications, for example for pipette tips. According to the latest information from Premix, production of these materials is set to begin in the third quarter of 2025 at the latest.
