Elastomer specialist sells Czech plant for automotive solutions
For an undisclosed sum, Swedish industrial group Trelleborg (Trelleborg; www.trelleborg.com) has sold its production plant in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic to investment group Kaprain (Prague; www.kaprain.cz).
The plant, which generated sales of around SEK 450 mn (EUR 38 mn) in 2022, produces technical rubber products for the automotive industry. The transaction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Anti-vibration solutions for chassis and engines are not a core business, said Peter Nilsson, president and CEO of Trelleborg. Kaprain had already taken over a plant in Nachod, Czech Republic from the Swedish company two years ago, where among other things V-belts, tyres, and hoses are produced.

After Trelleborg bought US competitor Minnesota Rubber & Plastics (MRP, Minneapolis, Minnesota; www.mnrubber.com) for just under EUR 1 bn in 2022, investments have recently focused on the Indian market – near Bangalore, Karnataka, the elastomer specialist is currently building a new plant for polymer sealing systems (Sealing Solutions), among others for applications in aerospace and medical technology.
With more than 21,000 employees, Trelleborg achieved group-wide sales of around SEK 30 bn in 2022.
