Swiss tech developer plans chemical recycling plant for PET / JV with Spain's Intecsa / Reclaim to include bottles, packaging, textiles
Gr3n (Lugano, Switzerland; www.gr3n-recycling.com) and engineering service provider Intecsa Industrial (Мadrid; www.intecsaindustrial.com) have announced a joint venture with plans to erect 40,000 t/y plant to chemically reclaim PET waste.

The facility is scheduled to start operations in 2027, but the partners have not specified where the plant is to be built.

The Swiss company said its Made process technology uses microwaves for alkaline hydrolysis, which in contrast to other chemical recycling methods works at temperatures of less than 200C. In addition to post-industrial and post-consumer PET, polyester textiles that contain up to 30% foreign content such as cotton can also be processed.

With such wide-ranging inputs, Gr3n could potentially achieve bottle-to-cloth, cloth-to-cloth, or cloth-to-bottle recycling, said company founder and CEO Maurizio Crippa.
