Polish plant to make packaging paper with polymer barrier / Paper recycling streams viable for disposal

The material is said to have a high barrier function to protect against water vapour and oxygen and is to be used for dry foods, milk powder, and household and hygiene products. Depending on customer requirements, the coating is applied either by dispersion or extrusion. When asked by Plasteurope.com, Mondi did not provide any information on which polymer-based materials are used and how high their volume share is.

According to Mondi, the packaging material can be recycled in paper waste streams throughout Europe; as the proportion of non-paper fibres is likely 5% or less.
Company policy stipulates that all packaging solutions should be reusable, recyclable, and compostable 2030.
