Swiss firm boosts UK shrink film production / PVdC-free packaging targets meat, cheese
Amcor (Zurich, Switzerland; www.amcor.com) said it has installed a further production line for shrink bags and shrink films at its UK-based Amcor Flexibles plant in Swansea. Details on the amount of investment and added capacity details were not disclosed.

The facility produces multilayer films and bags from polyethylene with five or seven layers made without polyvinylidene chloride (PVdC) but with PA/EVOH barrier layer said to account for less than 5% of the product and thus have no impact on recycling.

The films are used for packaging meat and cheese. According to Amcor, they extend the shelf life of fresh food products by providing high barrier protection against oxygen and moisture.
