Czech flexible packaging plant to be shuttered
Finnish packaging group Huhtamaki (Espoo; www.huhtamaki.com) said it intends to consolidate production in the largest flexible packaging segment in Europe in terms of revenue and close its production facility in Prague by 31 March 2024.
The production of flexible packaging is to be gradually transferred to other production sites; all 198 employees at the site will be affected by the decision, the company says.

Huhtamaki currently operates two production facility in the Czech Republic. The closure of the Prague plant will not affect production at the fibre packaging plant in Okrisky, which currently employs 274 people.

The group, which had sales of EUR 4.48 bn in 2022, plan to book closure costs of around EUR 35 mn in the second quarter of this year, it said. The group currently employs around 19,000 people at 116 sites in 37 countries.
