Masterbatch specialist expands production in Denmark / Focus on medical technology materials
Three years after the acquisition of compounder and masterbatch specialist Controlled Polymers (Ribe, Denmark; www.conpol.com), Americhem (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, USA; www.americhem.com) is expanding its plant at its subsidiary’s headquarters. The location with 80 employees is also to be Americhem’s new EU headquarters.

The additional hall with an area of 1,400 m² houses four new extrusion lines with a combined capacity of 5,000 t/y. According to vice-president and general manager Europe Barto DuPlessis this almost doubles the site’s previous capacity.

The focus is on a cleanroom area for medical technology materials. In the coming years, Americhem expects double-digit growth in medical technology compounds in Europe, which is to be served by the expansion.

Americhem produces customised colour masterbatches and compounds as well as functional additives based mainly on engineering polymers such as polypropylene, polyamide, polycarbonat, ABS, PEEK, TPE/TPU, EVA, and POM at 11 production sites, located primarily in the US.
