Ketan Joshi appointed new head of Intermediates division

On 1 March 2023, Ketan Joshi took over as head of the Intermediates division in Ludwigshafen at chemicals group BASF (Ludwigshafen, Germany; www.basf.com). The 44-year-old succeeds Stephan Kothrade, who had headed the division since the beginning of 2022 but was recently appointed to the chemical giant’s board of directors as successor to Saori Dubourg, who fell out of favour with BASF CEO Martin Brudermüller.

Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Joshi holds a doctorate in chemistry from ETH Zurich and has worked at BASF since 2006. He has been based in Hong Kong for the chemical company since 2014, where he most recently headed the Petrochemicals Asia Pacific division.
BASF’s Intermediates division includes plastics-relevant precursors butanediol and polyalcohols.
