German plastic and aluminium closures manufacturer Bericap (Budenheim; www.bericap.com) has announced turnover of EUR 1.2 bn last year, an increase of 28% from 2021. No further details on group results were available.
“The 2022 financial year was an economic challenge for everyone; especially against the backdrop of rising raw material and energy prices, and higher overhead costs,” the company said.
For the current financial year, the manufacturer, which said it generates more than 90% of turnover with plastic closures, is aiming for sales growth of 5%. This comes as the company plans to expand into the “new growth markets” of South-East Asia, Africa, and South America. At the end of 2023, new production sites are to be opened in Vietnam and Kenya, bringing the number of worldwide manufacturing locations to 28.

Last year, Bericap produced more than 95 bn closures for the beverage and liquid-food industry, and industrial and chemical sectors. Among other things, investments are flowing into tethered-cap solutions for lids that remain connected to the bottle after opening, products mandatory starting next year for disposable plastic beverage bottles with a capacity of up to 3 litres.
Additionally, the manufacturer, which is currently expanding its US production in Cowpens, South Carolina, is concentrating on further material reductions and processing bio-based and recycled materials (PCR).
