Family-run Paglieri (Alessandria, Italy; www.paglieri.com) has announced the acquisition of a neighbouring packaging manufacturer that also served as its supplier, with the company paying EUR 10 mn for Agopag (Alessandria; www.agopag.com). The deal means the manufacturer of shower gels, soaps, fabric softeners, detergents, and air fresheners is set to produce packaging for itself for the first time.
According to co-CEO Debora Paglieri, group turnover is expected to be almost EUR 200 mn with the purchase. In 2022, revenues reportedly improved 13% to EUR 175 mn.

The acquisition of Agopag is part of the company’s so-called Future vision strategy pursued by the newly formed board of directors of the family company, which is led by CEOs Debora Paglieri and Fabio Rossello. The plan foresees an extension of the value chain and a reduction in the firm’s ecological footprint through the production of blow-moulded bottles and injection-moulded closures made of high- and low-density polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystyrene.
The medium-term goal is to double sales, which is to be achieved primarily by entering new markets. However, the company did not provide details on what markets they could be.
