PE film manufacturer Trioworld (Smålandsstenar, Sweden; www.trioworld.com) is poised to acquire Malpack (Ajax, Ontario, Canada; www.malpack.ca). The two companies signed a corresponding purchase agreement at the end of last year, according to an announcement by the Swedish company. Malpack manufactures stretch film for beverage and food, consumer goods, e-commerce and other industrial sectors.

In acquiring the Canadian film supplier, Trioworld is set to obtain its first production site on the other side of the Atlantic. To date the company, which has belonged to Swedish private equity firm Altor since 2018 and generates annual sales of around EUR 850 mn with some 1,550 employees, has had facilities in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, the UK (see Plasteurope.com of 07.09.2022), and France.

With its forthcoming purchase, Trioworld will acquire a plant in the Canadian province of Ontario, a number of distribution sites in North America, and around 260 new employees. Malpack’s annual sales total some EUR 240 mn. The new CEO and, at the same time, division president of Trioworld North America, is Ricardo Cardoso, who succeeds Tony Galea, president and CEO to date, in the management of the Canadian company.
