Before the end of 2022, Uponor’s (Vantaa, Finland; www.uponorgroup.com) infrastructure business plans to close its pressure pipe plant in Middelfart, Denmark. Around 40 employees will be affected, according to the Finnish company. However, the Danish sales team is to remain in place, it says.
The production facility in Middelfart primarily supplies the Danish market. “Unfortunately, the business unit has not managed to achieve the required profitability,” says Sebastian Bondestam, head of Uponor Infra. The Danish market will henceforth be supplied by other infrastructure sites in Sweden, Finland, and Poland.
