US plastics additives supplier Milliken (Spartanburg, South Carolina; www.milliken.com) has launched production of its Millad NX 8000 family of additive clarifiers for polypropylene at its new plant in Blacksburg, South Carolina, with the aim of increasing available output for the line of materials by more than 50%.
The company plans to reach full operating capacity at the facility by the end of 2022 to meet rising demand but did not provide information on output. Spending for the expansion, which was announced earlier this year, represents the largest clarifier plant investment in Milliken history, the company said (see Plasteurope.com of 01.04.2019). Financial details were not disclosed.

Millad NX 8000 helps reduce carbon emissions by enabling converters to lower their energy use during processing while also improving production efficiency, according to the supplier. The additive is said to give PP a glass-like clarity suitable for thin-wall packaging applications.
