Toray (Tokyo; www.toray.com) has announced plans to increase prices for yarn and airbag fabrics made from PA 6.6 as of 1 October 2022.
The company said it intends to raise prices up to 35%, a decision said to be justified by high costs for raw materials and energy.
The conglomerate said it has undertaken austerity measures to increase efficiency and productivity while cutting expenses, but savings initiatives have been unable to offset recent price increases.
Toray strengthened its airbag cushion operations in 2019 with the acquisition of Alva Sweden (ASE, Mölndal – see Plasteurope.com of 02.09.2019).
