Italian compounder Sirmax (Cittadella; www.sirmax.com) said it will spend an undisclosed amount to increase output by 2025 at its US site in Anderson, Indiana, where it also plans to add production of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) materials and erect a new 12,000 m² facility for engineering plastic compounds. The company did not provide information on the planned capacity.
Sirmax said its first US production plant, built in 2015 to make polyolefin compounds from virgin plastics, will be extended for TPE production and a new warehouse, which will nearly triple the production area to to 37,000 m². Capacity at the site is currently at around 45,000 t/y.
A second plant built in Anderson in 2020 for recycled polypropylene compounds made of post-industrial waste that is set to become fully operational this year (see Plasteurope.com of 22.03.2022) will upgrade manufacturing operations and more than double the production area to 27,000 m², the company said. It operates two extrusion lines with a capacity of 15,000 t/y at the site.
In addition to its two US facilities, Sirmax, which most recently generated a turnover of EUR 480 mn with a global staff of 800, operates six production plants in Italy, two each in Poland and India, and one in Brazil.
