Dutch distributor acquires Mexican competitor Promaplast

Dutch speciality chemical trader and distributor IMCD (Rotterdam; www.imcdgroup.com) is continuing its buying spree with the company on track to acquire Mexico’s Promaplast (Rancho La Bomba Lerma; www.promaplast.com), its second competitor this year. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
The transaction is expected to be completed in September. Earlier this year, IMCD acquired Austria’s Polychem (Markt Allhau; www.polychem-group.com – see Plasteurope.com of 05.01.2022).
The Promaplast group, which focuses on thermoplastics, thermosets, additives, and masterbatches, consists of the three companies: PromaPlast Resinas, Proveedora de Materiales Plásticos, and PromaPlast USA.
With 109 employees in six sales offices and warehouses, Promaplast serves Mexico and parts of the US and South America. In Mexico, the company considers itself the undisputed market leader.
