O'Bert takes helm of LYB-PKN Orlen JV

Michael O’Bert has been appointed CEO of Basell Orlen Polyolefins (BOP, Plock, Poland; www.basellorlen.pl), the joint venture between LyondellBasell (LYB, Rotterdam, the Netherlands; www.lyondellbasell.com) and PKN Orlen (Plock; www.orlen.pl), with effect from 1 August 2022. He succeeds Laurent Hautier, who ran the JV since February 2019 and has been tapped to manage the LYB plant in Berre, France.
O’Bert has worked at LyondellBasell for more than 40 years and was most recently the global director of methanol, acetyls, and ethylene oxide derivatives. Previously, he held various roles in refining, olefins, intermediates, and derivatives. A US native, he holds a degree in chemical engineering and business administration.
