Etimex Primary Packaging (Dietenheim, Germany; www.etimex-pp.com) has introduced a new peelable polypropylene film for sealing applications. Designed as an alternative to the widely used flexible aluminium lid films, the solution is primarily intended for dairy products but is also suitable for sealing other food or industrial packaging, according to the manufacturer.

Thanks to increased opacity, the film provides the product with sufficient protection from light exposure and has a density < 1. According to Etimex, the decisive factor for the development was a customer request for a mono-material yoghurt package. Omitting the aluminium foil cover makes the yoghurt cups recyclable, including the PP covers.
