US film and packaging manufacturer ProAmpac (Cincinnati, Ohio; www.proampac.com) is continuing its acquisition spree with the takeover of compatriot firm Specialty Packaging (Fort Worth, Texas; www.specialtypackaginginc.com), a manufacturer of special paper, film, and foil products for the fast food and food service industry. Specialty Packaging, founded in 1964, specialises in custom printed pouch, wrap, and liner packaging products. Financial details were not disclosed.
With the acquisition, ProAmpac aims to expand its portfolio of packaging solutions for the food sector, said company founder and CEO Greg Tucker. The group employs nearly 5,800 people worldwide at 50 locations and is majority owned by US financial investor Pritzker Private Capital (Chicago, Illinois; www.ppcpartners.com).
For years, ProAmpac has pursued an expansion strategy through inorganic growth with substantial moves on both sides of the Atlantic. Last summer, the company acquired UK packaging manufacturer Ultimate Packaging (Grimsby; see Plasteurope.com of 19.07.2021) and Irish firm Euroflex (Bunbeg), a supplier of vacuum bags for the food industry and other packaging applications (see Plasteurope.com of 02.08.2021). In March 2021, ProAmpac took control of two UK producers of polyethylene films and bags, IG Industries (Brigg) and Brayford Plastics (Lincoln; see Plasteurope.com of 29.03.2021).
