With the acquisition of Stražaplastika (Hum na Sutli, Croatia; www.strazaplastika.hr), DW Reusables (Bilzen, Belgium; www.dwreusables.com) has expanded its presence in Southeast Europe. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal gives the Belgian company, which makes injection-moulded reusable packaging goods such as beer crates and pallets, plants in Croatia (Hum na Sutli), Northern Macedonia (Probištip), and Serbia (Subotica), and more than 220 new employees. Stražaplastika injection moulds plastic containers, pallets, and straws and extrudes products for the food, agriculture, construction, and automotive sectors.
This transaction strengthens the portfolio of DW Reusables – formerly DS Smith Plastics – which has been owned by US private equity firm Olympus Partners for over three years (see Plasteurope.com of 07.03.2019). The company was already making goods in Croatia at its site in Kupljensko. Other production facilities are based at its headquarters site and in Spain and Poland.
