Packaging and recycling equipment manufacturer Starlinger (Vienna; www.starlinger.com) has sold a new recycling system to Egyptian PET bottle-to-bottle recycler BariQ (Giza; www.bariq-eg.com).
The new equipment – a recoSTAR PET 215 HC iV+, including a viscoSTAR 350 solid-state-polycondensation (SSP) reactor – is to increase BariQ’s total recycling capacity to more than 3.5 mn PET bottles a year, producing 35,000 t of food-grade rPET pellets.
BariQ said it planned to upgrade its existing Starlinger recoSTAR PET 165 iV+ recycling line with a new melt filter for fine filtration and an additional SSP reactor. This setup not only increases the line’s output, it also allows the production of rPET types beyond the regular bottle-to-bottle grades.
The deal with BariQ follows Starlinger supplying rPET flake producer Başatlı (Başiskele, Kocaeli, Turkey; www.basatli.com.tr) in January this year with a recoSTAR PET 215 iV+, which was the first such installation by Starlinger in Turkey (see Plasteurope.com of 03.01.2022).
