German plastics recycler APK (Merseburg; www.apk-ag.de) said it has entered into a collaboration with Israeli raw materials and intermediates supplier Modiplast (Rishon LeZion; www.modiplast.com) for the distribution of Mersamid polyamide and Mersalen LDPE on the Isreali market through a platform called OUT-FIN-IT.

The German company produces the materials with its Newcycling process – a solvent-based reclaim technology – through which APK said it is able to achieve pure recyclates from mixed household waste (see Plasteurope.com of 03.01.2022). The dissolution process reportedly generates single-variety plastic recyclates from multilayer, post-industrial packaging waste, and mixed post-consumer waste. The high degree of purity and homogeneity of the recyclates allow them to be reused in the original applications, thereby closing the product-to-product loop, according to APK.

The company employs around 150 at its Merseburg site. The production plant here, which was certified according to the EuCertPlast standard in July 2021, has a recycling capacity of 20,000 t/y (see Plasteurope.com of 31.08.2021).
