The safe global production and shipment of coronavirus vaccines is the focus of work on biopharmaceutical packaging involving US chemical giant Dow (Midland, Michigan; www.dow.com), German packaging manufacturer Südpack (Ochsenhausen; www.suedpack.com), and German pharmaceutical and lab equipment supplier Sartorius (Göttingen; www.sartorius.com). The partners are manufacturing bioprocessing bags essential for vaccine processes, storage, and transport.
Sartorius is producing sterile bio-reactor bags used by pharmaceutical companies to cultivate important vaccines, those for the coronavirus. The bags use sterile multilayer films from Südpack made with Dow resins.
The 3D flexible bio-reactor bags are said to be dedicated to sterile and ready-to-use solutions, they are designed for storage and shipping of large-volume biopharmaceutical products, and they reportedly provide a secure and convenient single-use solution for in-process fluid handling, storage, and shipment.
