Flexible packaging group Coveris (Vienna, Austria; www.coveris.com) says it has upgraded its site in Montfaucon, France, by installing a new 5-layer coextrusion unit. The new machine is expected to increase the company’s polyethylene shrink and stretch hoods output for industrial applications and enable the production of recycled materials from both post-consumer and post-industrial plastics.
This technology expands Coveris’ portfolio to include a standard or non-stick shrink hood with optimised thickness that can incorporate 50% or more recycled material, along with a range of thin stretch hoods featuring 30% recycled content. The equipment also offers in-line printing and water-based ink with up to two colours on both sides, continuous or registered.
The company’s new range of recyclable and recycled shrink and stretch hoods is in line with its vision of cutting packaging and product waste. Coveris’ factories in Winsford, UK, and Kufstein, Austria, also have the capacity to produce stretch hood films incorporating recycled content.
