South African packaging giant Mondi (Johannesburg; www.mondigroup.com) has developed a recyclable refill pouch for Henkel (Dusseldorf; www.henkel.com), allowing the German company’s customers to use a new keep-at-home refillable pump dispenser for its hand dish-washing detergent, instead of buying countless plastic bottles.

According to Mondi, the mono-material flexible stand-up pouch reduces plastic by 70% every time it replaces a rigid plastic bottle, is easy to recycle where existing infrastructure exists, and can withstand the rigours of online delivery services.

Last year, Mondi had launched a similarly recyclable high-barrier pouch as part of its range of sustainable packaging solutions for premium food and wet pet food (see Plasteurope.com of 21.10.2021). The firm aims to make its products reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025.
