Plastics group Covestro (Leverkusen, Germany; www.covestro.com) has announced the expansion of polycarbonate compounding at its Greater Noida plant in India. With the commissioning of the two new plants, which operate according to the “blue print” process, the capacity will be more than doubled, the company announced.
Detailed figures on capacity or the amount of investment were not disclosed.
The expansion of production is the first major project Covestro has implemented in India since it was spun off from Bayer in 2015. The additional PC compounding capacities are intended in particular to improve the supply of materials to regional customers, said Nicolas Stoeckel, head of Operations Engineering Plastics at Covestro, at a ceremony to celebrate the opening of the plants.
