Masterbatch specialist Gabriel-Chemie (Gumpoldskirchen, Austria; www.gabriel-chemie.com), in cooperation with Aurora Kunststoffe (Neuenstein, Germany; www.aurora-kunststoffe.de) and seating maker GSM Stella (Gössnitz, Germany), has developed a masterbatch for post-industrial polyamide 6.6 to produce stadium seating.
When added to the polymer, the masterbatch ensures the mechanical resistant, flame retardant properties, aesthetic appearance, and resistance to prolonged exposure to UV rays and other aggressive atmospheric agents to the manufactured article, says Gabriel-Chemie. Approximately 30,000 stadium seats for the sporting seat industry are expected to be produced. These will comply with international safety regulations of the stadiums.
Aurora Kunststoffe produces recyclate-based PA 6.6 compounds, but its portfolio also includes other engineering compounds based on ABS, PA 6, polycarbonate/ABS, PBT, and polypropylene.
