Polyurethane system specialist Coim (Settimo Milanese / Italy; www.coimgroup.com) is still on a shopping spree: for the second time in six months, the company has expanded its production base in Europe. After the takeover of Spain’s Neoflex (Elche; www.neoflex.es) in June 2021 (see Plasteurope.com of 09.07.2021), the Italian firm has acquired Dutch alkyd resin specialist Synres (Hoek van Holland; www.synres.com).

Coim plans to expand the Dutch firm, which focuses on coatings, with a second plant to make its own products, primarily “Isoexter” and “Diexter” aromatic and aliphatic polyester polyols. In addition, the latest acquisition brings the company closer geographically to markets in the UK and Scandinavia, according to Coim CEO Giuseppe Librandi.
