Austrian polyolefin manufacturer Borealis (Vienna; www.borealisgroup.com) has appointed Dirk Langhammer as the vice-president of strategy and group development, as of 1 January 2022. In this position, the 42-year-old succeeds Tom Asselman, who moved to parent company OMV (Vienna; www.omv.com) as vice-president, strategic planning and projects.
Langhammer, in turn, comes from OMV, where he held various positions since 2013, including head of internal consulting and head of business development in the Middle East and Asia. Most recently, he served as vice-president for business transformation and, as part of this, helped shape the restructuring of OMV’s refining business in the areas of hydrogen, e-fuels, and biofuels.
Before joining OMV, he worked for management consultancy McKinsey in Germany and Australia. Langhammer has a PhD in natural sciences.
