Thermoplastic elastomer specialist Kraiburg (Waldkraiburg / Germany; www.kraiburgtpe.com) is extending its offering of food-contact thermoplastic elastomers with a new series called “Thermoplast K”. It is a material solution for everyday consumer applications that require stringent conformity with a wide range of global standards, such as (EU) No. 10/2011, GB 4806, (FDA) CFR21 as well as DIN EN 71-3 for toys.
The new TPE series features adhesion to polypropylene, optimised flow, and hardness range from 30 to 90 Shore A, all processable by injection moulding, extrusion and 3D printing, says Kraiburg. The compounds – available in natural and translucent colours with pre-colouring options – are free from animal ingredients, heavy metals, phthalates, bisphenol A, and latex. They meet food-safety material requirements and comply with REACH, SVHC and RoHS.
