Following already considerable surcharges for ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymers (EVOH), Japanese suppliers Kuraray (Tokyo; www.kuraray.co.jp) and Mitsubishi Chemical (Tokyo; www.m-chemical.co.jp/en) are planning further increases towards the end of the year. Both cited sharp rises in the costs of raw materials, logistics and energy.

Mitsubishi Chemical is set to raise the price of the material on 1 December 2021, but the company did not specify the scope of the adjustment for its “Soarnol”, “Soaresin” and “Soarlite” product lines. However, there are reports of hikes of EUR 500/t and more in the market.

Kuraray raised the price for all “Eval” types by EUR 400/t on 1 November.
