Karl Finke (Wuppertal / Germany; www.finke-colors.eu) said it uses recyclates from household (PCR) and post-industrial waste for its new “Fibarec” masterbatch series. While the masterbatches available so far are based on PET recyclates, grades with rPE and rPP are to follow soon. The company said the masterbatches can be processed in the same way as those based on virgin material.
With its new “Fibafekt” semi-compound, Finke has also developed a product said to enable a variety of special attributes. The range includes metallic, pearlescent, and rainbow effects as well as chrome-like surfaces that cannot be achieved with standard masterbatches. The semi-compound can be used in the outer layer of coextruded bottles, in 2K injection moulding and in multilayer films, and it can be combined with various primary material substrates, including polyethylene, polypropylene, PET-G, polyamide 12, and PCR material.
