Germany’s Schütz (Selters; www.schuetz.net) says it has invested an undisclosed sum in its intermediate bulk container (IBC) assembly line in Worksop / UK. “The degree of automation, level of manufacturing and energy efficiency have again been significantly increased,” the company noted.
In combination with the existing reconditioning line, this new development is said to have led to an increase in the capacity at the site, although no details were provided. The expansion of the British facility, which Schütz has owned since 1992, is also expected to ensure a reliable supply for customers in the UK. Series production with the new line is already underway, the company said.
Quite recently, the manufacturer of industrial packaging commissioned a new plant for the production IBCs and plastic tight head containers in the Canadian state of Ontario (see Plasteurope.com of 11.08.2021). The 20,000 m² production facility – Schütz’s first in the country – has been initially equipped with two multilayer extrusion blow moulding lines and one IBC assembly line.
Schütz is a leading producer of transport packaging and makes intermediate bulk containers, plastic and steel drums with over 50 production and service sites worldwide and more than 7,000 employees. It reported sales of EUR 1.8 bn in 2020.
