German compounder and recyclate manufacturer pal plast (Mühlheim; www.palplast.com/en) announced that it has launched its “Prime Recompounds”, which, according to MD Josef Wirnik, have a recycled content between 30% and 50%. The materials are primarily intended for customers who, due to future legal requirements, will have to prove a certain proportion of recycled polymers in their product.
The new range supplements the existing compounds portfolio, which consists of the company’s series “P” (primary material) and “R” (up to 90% recycled content) compounds and recompounds. “We have started with PBT, PA 6 and 6.6,” said co-managing director Amit Wirnik, “ABS and PC/ABS blends are to follow.”
For the materials presented at the “Fakuma” trade fair in mid-October, pal plast said it plans to expand production in the next two years, noting that new extruders have already been ordered. By the middle of 2022, capacity is set to grow to 40,000 t/y from 25,000 t/y. A further expansion to 50,000 t/y is planned for the end of 2022. The added capacity is to be accompanied by an increase in staff: Amit Wimik announced that the number of employees is expected to rise from the current 60 to 85.
