Film and packaging manufacturer AMB (San Daniele del Friuli / Italy; www.ambpackaging.com), which has been majority-owned by investment company Peak Rock Capital since February 2021 (see Plasteurope.com of 16.02.2021), is investing an undisclosed sum in two new extrusion lines. The rPET systems made by Bandera (Venegono / Italy; www.luigibandera.com) are said to each have a processing capacity of 10,000 t/y. One machine will be installed in Italy, while the other will be based in Gateshead / UK. The recycled PET films are to be used in form-fill-seal (FFS) and thermoformed packaging.
In the past two years, AMB has made itself known through acquisitions (see Plasteurope.com of 20.07.2020). In 2018, the company processed a good 60,000 t of plastics into films and food packaging, primarily using polyethylene and PET, but also polyamide and EVOH. AMB currently employs around 430 people at four production sites in Italy and the UK.
