SIG Combibloc (Neuhausen / Switzerland; www.sig.biz) has announced that its second plant for making aseptic carton packaging in China has begun production at Suzhou Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province (see Plasteurope.com of 01.08.2019). The plant is located near the company’s first manufacturing facility at the site as well as its Asia-Pacific tech centre, the Swiss-based firm noted.
“Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, the large-scale project has been successfully implemented, once again demonstrating SIG’s ongoing commitment to engineering excellence and sustainability leadership,” the company said.
Plans say that by 2024, the plant will cover 120,000 m² and is expected have an annual production capacity of 8 bn carton packs. The facility has been designed and built to have the lowest possible carbon emissions, the supplier noted, pointing out that the entire production process is managed intelligently, which significantly improves operational and production efficiency. The smart manufacturing system covers extrusion, printing, creasing, cutting and sealing, the company added.
