Due to “above-average growth in all regions”, Germany’s Rehau (Rehau; www.rehau.com) says its window division intends to increase production at several locations and build new plants worldwide. The business unit of the plastics group will be developed into a “holistic system provider”, the company announced. In Europe, the measures include investments in profile production facilities in Poland, Romania, Russia and the UK. Rehau declined a Plasteurope.com request to provide further details.

The investments have commenced with a new window profile plant near the Argentinean capital Buenos Aires, where ground was broken at the beginning of August. Rehau is investing EUR 13.6m in the 10,000 m² plant, which is scheduled to go onstream in the third quarter of 2022, according to division manager Carsten Heuer. For the most part, the extrusion of PVC is planned, but other polymers will also be used to a lesser extent. A spokesperson declined comment on the tonnage to be processed and the use of recyclates.

The plant is the company’s second facility for window profiles in Argentina. Rehau has been operating a production plant in Rosario – about 300 km northwest of Buenos Aires – since 2014. In addition, sister divisions for furniture and industrial solutions have production sites in Brazil and Colombia. Rehau declined to provide data on the total sales volume for South America, but Argentina in particular is said to be a “strong sales market”.
