US packaging group Pregis (Chicago, Illinois; www.pregis.com) said it is spending USD 80m (EUR 68m) on a new domestic blown film extrusion facility in Anderson, South Carolina. The company plans to produce packaging for food, CPG and medical device applications at the 15,608 m² site, which will also feature a film laboratory to develop and test materials. The plant is expected to come onstream in September 2021 and will create 120 new jobs, according to Pregis.
Kevin Baudhuin, president and CEO, said, “We believe that this new facility will be the most technologically-advanced extrusion facility in North America. The facility has been staffed with technology and market leaders who are focused on developing extruded films that have been engineered to meet market-driven performance requirements.”
Employing a total workforce of more than 2,200, Pregis has 25 facilities in the US, along with operations in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and the UK.
