With its second acquisition in 2021, German PU systems provider Plixxent (Hamburg; www.plixxent.com) is pushing ahead with its growth. The recent takeover of PU systems manufacturer Tagos (Busto Arsizio / Italy; www.tagos.it) accelerates Plixxent’s expansion on the Italian market, says the Hamburg-based company. “This transaction is another step to strengthen our position as a provider of polyurethane-based solutions in Europe,” explains CEO Jörg Schottek.
Tagos was founded in 1965 and produces PU-based systems, catalysts and coatings. Target markets include, for instance, the transport, hospitality and construction sectors. The company is a leader in cryogenic insulation products, Plixxent said.
The German firm had already acquired UK-based PU specialist MRi Polytech earlier this year (see Plasteurope.com of 08.04.2021). As a result, Plixxent, which emerged from a Covestro spin-off in 2019 with the support of US private equity firm H.I.G. Capital (see Plasteurope.com of 11.11.2019), now has six sites with around 320 employees. Customers from various end markets such as construction and household appliances are supplied by the German firm, which has annual sales of around EUR 250m.
