Marco Hilty named head of flexibles packaging unit

Marco Hilty has been appointed president of flexible packaging at Finland's Huhtamaki (Espoo; www.huhtamaki.com), effective 1 September 2021. The 49-year-old, who was named a member of the packaging manufacturer’s global executive team, replaces Arup Basu from India, who has left the company. Hilty will report to CEO Charles Héaulmé and be based at the firm’s German site in Ronsberg.
Hilty, born in Germany and holder of a doctorate in business administration from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), was most recently COO at US-based Rubicon Technologies in Atlanta, a software platform that provides waste and recycling solutions for companies and governments worldwide.
Huhtamaki’s flexibles division, with 29 locations in 16 countries, recently generated almost one-third of current group turnover of EUR 3.3 bn. It produces a wide range of packaging solutions based on paper, polyethylene, polypropylene and PET for the pharmaceutical, pet food, food and beverage sectors.
