German profile manufacturer declares force majeure

In view of the insufficient supply of PVC raw materials (see Plasteurope.com of 06.07.2021), and therefore extended delivery times, German profile manufacturer Veka (Sendenhorst; www.veka.com) has declared force majeure, according to a customer letter dated 29 June 2021, which has been made available to Plasteurope.com. The upcoming holiday season and the resulting bottlenecks in staff planning aggravated the situation, says Veka.
In view of the strong demand, orders can no longer be completely fulfilled within usual delivery times, Veka continues. Thus, backlogs were being cleared rather slowly. The company asked its customers to increase their own buffer times and to submit new orders with as much lead time as possible.
