As expected, Italian-British investment fund Investindustrial (London / UK; www.investindustrial.com) is selling its shares in resin producer Polynt-Reichhold (see Plasteurope.com of 17.05.2021). Specialty Chemicals International, a holding company of Investindustrial partner Black Diamond (Greenwich / UK; www.bdcm.com), will acquire the block of shares, the volume of which is not being disclosed.

This will make Black Diamond the majority shareholder. The approval of the antitrust authorities and the conclusion of the transaction are expected within the next six months. It is not clear whether Black Diamond will then resell the company as a whole.

The EUR 1.3 bn transaction will be financed with new loans to the group, which consists of composites specialist Polynt (Scanzorosciate / Italy; www.polynt.it) and resin producer Reichhold (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina / USA; www.reichhold.com).

Investindustrial and Black Diamond had just acquired the phenolic resin and hexamine business from US epoxy and polyester resin producer Hexion (Columbus, Ohio; www.hexion.com) in late 2020 (see Plasteurope.com of 06.10.2020).
