The European umbrella organisation for manufacturers of EPS mouldings and packaging, the Association of European Manufacturers of Expanded Polystyrene (Eumeps, Brussels / Belgium; www.eumeps.org), has appointed Jürgen Lang as its new MD. For the past three years, Lang has been working in Brussels as a trade and tax advisor at EuroCommerce, the European organisation for retail and wholesale trade, a position he was assigned by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
Considering Europe’s climate and circular economy goals, Klaus Ries, the Eumeps board chairman and head of global business management for styrenic foams at BASF, said Lang would help the industry showcase environmental, social and economic benefits of EPS at the regional and European level. In that vein, Eumeps welcomed the recently opened, first-of-its-kind PolyStyreneLoop EPS recycling facility in Terneuzen / The Netherlands (see Plasteurope.com of 09.06.2021).
Eumeps members cover the entire EPS value chain, from raw material makers to EPS processors and recyclers to supporting industries such as machinery and additive suppliers. Members include individual companies and 22 European national EPS associations. In total, the association represents the interests of around 1,000 companies with more than 80,000 employees.
