Dutch recycler Coolrec (Waalwijk; www.coolrec.com), part of UK waste management group Renewi (Milton Keynes; www.renewiplc.com), held an inauguration ceremony on 15 June 2021 in Waalwijk for the installation of an electrostatic separator expected to generate high-quality secondary raw materials.
Coolrec said the EUR 500,000 unit can process about 6,000 t/y of mixed waste electrical appliances and convert them into ABS and HIPS flakes with a purity of no less than 98%, rendering them extremely well suited for making new products.
“With this new investment, Coolrec is positioning itself as one of the most sustainable WEEE [waste electrical and electronic equipment] recyclers in Europe,” said company MD Dieter Avonds. “We continue to improve our production process of secondary raw materials and achieve material that is virtually indistinguishable from new.”
