The revolving door on the management floor at Austrian polyolefin and chemicals producer Borealis (Vienna / Austria; www.borealisgroup.com) continues to spin: Wolfram Krenn is set to join the board and become executive vice-president of the company’s base chemicals and operations unit on 1 July 2021.
A chemical engineer by education, Krenn comes to Borealis from its majority shareholder OMV (Vienna / Austria; www.omv.com), which he joined in 1998 as a process engineer. He later switched to production and operations and was most recently senior vice-president for refining assets. He succeeds Martijn van Koten, who was appointed to the OMV executive board and takes charge of the company’s refining operations.
A lively back and forth has been underway between the boards of Borealis and OMV: On 1 April, Thomas Gangl moved from the OMV board to the post of Borealis CEO (see Plasteurope.com of 09.02.2021). Conversely, Alfred Stern took over the top executive position at Borealis in 2018, joined the OMV management board to run the new chemicals and materials division, and he is set to become CEO of OMV on 1 September 2021 (see Plasteurope.com 09.06.2021).
