Dutch plastics processor Kivo (Volendam; www.kivo.nl) has extended its range of manufacturing processes, with the first extrusion line for cast film having started up in the first half of June, the company reports. The line will enable the increased use of polyethylene recyclate in the production of labels and signs for floristry and horticulture.
Kivo, founded in 1966 by Dick Kwakman, produces blown film, sacks and bags made of HDPE, among other things. Since the takeover of Germany’s Polaris in 2012, the company has had a second site in the Netherlands (Zwolle); in 2015 a joint venture in Kosovo was added, specialised in extrusion, flexographic printing and conversion.
In the meantime, Kivo also held a majority shareholding in the German films’ manufacturer Frischmann, but sold this again in January 2019 to Scholle IPN.
