Multivac (Wolfertschwenden / Germany; www.multivac.com) said it opened a 3,100 m² logistics hub at its US site in Kansas City, Missouri, in early 2021, after a year of construction, and that the centre will serve North and Central America.
Increasing demand for spare parts logistics and material supplies for production drove the development, which included additional process automation, the company explained. It noted that its US unit currently has more than 250 employees in Kansas City and operates sales support centres in Tustin, California; Whippany, New Jersey; and Charlotte, North Carolina.
In addition, the packaging equipment specialist recently joined Germany’s “R-Cycle” initiative, which seeks to identify recyclable waste with more precision during the reclaim process (see Plasteurope.com of 13.07.2020). Other members of the group include German plastics processing machinery makers Reifenhäuser, Arburg, Brückner, and Kautex, and the Institute for Plastics Processing at RWTH Aachen University.
