Coveris (Vienna / Austria; www.coveris.com) has dipped into the UK packaging market for the second time in 2021, buying Four04 Packaging (Derby; www.four04packaging.co.uk) for an undisclosed sum. In March 2021, Coveris had acquired Initial Packaging Solutions (Westgate; www.initialpackaging.co.uk), saying it would help the Austrian firm’s growth strategy in high performance bags (see Plasteurope.com of 11.03.2021).
Four04 Packaging’s specialism in packaging for fresh food, produce and bakery would complement Coveris’ existing product ranges in those markets, said Jake Mosser, Coveris’ chief executive.
In the year to 30 April 2020, Four04 Packaging reported a turnover of GBP 23.2m (EUR 27m), and an operating profit of GBP 1m (EUR 1.2m). The group said it has operated normally – and safely – throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to orders from the food industry.
